Do you know that most offices with many staff in Africa generate between 40-60kg of recyclable wastes every week and these wastes most times end up in the open landfill and dumpsites where it is openly burnt… Meanwhile, landfills contribute about 20% of Green House Gases (GHG) such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), Sulphur, and nitrogen gases…
The Sustainable Workplace initiative is aimed at having a workplace that is environmentally sensitive and socially responsible. This is done by Waste Segregation which is the first step towards developing an occupational waste management plan that will preserve the environment and promote public health, and then proper disposal of the waste generated in the offices for recycling purposes, instead of it being dumped at landfills…
